5 Day Trial
Any saddle purchased through this website comes with the Sheepham Saddles 5 day UK trial. This is your opportunity to make arrangements to have a professional of your choice assess the saddle and its suitability for both the horse and the rider and the purpose it is intended for.
How it works
Step 1
Order the Saddle
Choose your saddles from the website, add them to your basket and check out. Orders need to be made by 2 pm to qualify for next day delivery, any order placed after then will be processed the following day. You will be charged for the saddles and the outward postage, starting from £25.00.
Step 2
Trial the Saddle
On receipt of the saddles you have 5 days to try them to ensure you have the perfect fit. Use the button below to find saddle fitters in your local area. Try selected saddles whilst treating them with care and respect. We recommend getting a professional opinion – our saddles are used and may need flocking alterations to suit your horse/pony.
And if you aren't happy with the saddles...
Step 3
Return Saddles
Return any unwanted saddles to us by simply filling out the returns form and re-packaging in the box they came in. The DPD collection is charged at a minimum of £25.00 with a £10 trial fee.
Step 4
Refunds
Money for any unwanted saddle is refunded to the credit/debit card used to make your purchase, minus the return fees as detailed in Step 3. Once we have received the unwanted saddle, it will be inspected and your refund processed within 3 working days.
Please allow a further 7-10 working days for the refund to show on your card/account. Please note the timeframe varies from bank to bank.

How long is the trial period for secondhand saddles?
The trial period is 5 days, which includes weekends and public holidays. This allows you to assess the saddle’s suitability for your horse.
What condition does the saddle need to be in when returned?
The saddle must be returned in the same condition it was received. If the saddle is dirty, a £10 cleaning fee will be applied. The saddle should be carefully packaged according to return guidelines.

Yes, you are allowed to trial up to two saddles at a time. Both saddles must be purchased upfront, and each saddle will be subject to the same trial and return policies.
Who covers the return shipping costs if the saddle doesn't fit?
You, as the buyer, will cover the return shipping cost. It is £25 for a DPD collection, in addition to the £10 trial fee per saddle, which will be deducted from your refund.
Can I extend the trial period if needed?
No, the trial period cannot be extended. You must decide within the 5 days whether the saddle is suitable for you and your horse.
Are there specific care instructions I should follow during the trial?
Yes, saddles should not be used in wet weather, should be kept on a saddle rack when not in use, and should not be used while wearing jeans with back pockets. Proper care is essential to avoid damage that may affect your refund.
What happens if the saddle is damaged during the trial period?
If the saddle is returned damaged—either structurally or cosmetically—you may be liable for a partial or no refund, depending on the extent of the damage. The decision will be at Sheepham Saddles’ discretion.

Can I pick up a saddle in person for the trial instead of having it delivered?
Yes, you can arrange to collect the saddle in person. However, we do ask that you contact Sheepham Saddles to schedule an appointment. The trial period begins on the day of collection.
Is there a fee if I cancel my order before it's shipped?
Yes, if you cancel your order before it is dispatched, a £10 cancellation fee will be charged.
When does the trial period begin if delivery is delayed?
The trial period starts on the first delivery attempt, regardless of whether you are present to receive the saddle. Delays in delivery do not extend the trial period.
What should I package the saddle in to return it?
To return a saddle, it must be securely packaged in the original box it was delivered in, using sufficient protective material, such as bubble wrap, to prevent any damage during transit. The packaging should meet the return guidelines provided by Sheepham Saddles to ensure the saddle arrives safely back to us. For more information, please visit our packaging guide page.
